Terms of Use

- Buflowski is a free place to write. Be decent and don't abuse it.
- You must be at least 13. Keep your password safe.
- Your writing is yours. We only store it and show it to you and the people you choose.
- The authorship proof is evidence of how text was typed, not a legal guarantee.
- The service is free and offered as is. Export your work any time.
- These terms are governed by New Jersey law.
1. Who we are
Buflowski ("Buflowski", "we", "us") is run by Jon Pivko, an individual in Waldwick, New Jersey, USA. Contact: [email protected]. By creating an account or using Buflowski you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old (or older if your country requires it). One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password private and tell us if you think someone else has used it.
3. Your writing belongs to you
Buflowski claims no ownership of anything you write or import. You give us only a limited licence to store, process and display your writing so the app can work for you, and to show it to the people you choose to share it with (co-writers, friends, or anyone with a public replay or proof link you create). This licence ends when you delete the writing or your account, apart from short-lived backups.
4. Sharing
You decide what is shared. Co-writers and friends see only what you share with them. Replay links (/r/…) and proof links (/p/…) are public to anyone who has the link, so share them with care. You can stop sharing at any time, but people may already have copied what they saw.
5. Authorship proof
Buflowski records how your text was typed (keystrokes, edits and timings inside the editor) to build an authorship proof and playback. The proof shows how a text came to be in Buflowski. It is evidence, not a legal guarantee of authorship, and we don't promise any school, publisher or court will accept it. Imported work has no full proof: we only see it arrive, and dates taken from imported files are not verified.
6. Helpers
The built-in Helpers (cleanup and idea lists) are rule-based and use word lists. They are not generative AI and your writing is not sent to any AI provider. Their suggestions may be wrong; you choose whether to use them.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use Buflowski to: break the law or store illegal content; harass, threaten or impersonate anyone; spam; share other people's private information without permission; or attack, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer around limits, or try to break into the service or other accounts. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
8. Connected services
If you link a Fernfolk account, Buflowski sends it your word counts, goal and streak only. Your use of Fernfolk is covered by Fernfolk's own terms. You can disconnect any time in Settings.
9. The service
Buflowski is free and run by one person. It may change, pause or stop, and features may be added or removed. We will try to give notice of big changes. You can export your work at any time, and we recommend keeping your own copies of anything important.
10. Ending things
You can stop using Buflowski and delete your account any time in Settings (Account > Delete my account). We may suspend or end access if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if the service shuts down.
11. Disclaimers
Buflowski is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to US$50.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Please contact us first and we will try to sort things out informally; otherwise disputes go to the state or federal courts located in New Jersey.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms. If a change matters, we will say so in the app before it takes effect and update the date above. Using Buflowski after a change means you accept it.
